The Academy’s New Documentary Voters: Part II
Meet 13 more of the Academy newest Documentary Branch members — and hear their thoughts on joining the institution.
Last week, we profiled 12 of the Academy's newest Documentary Branch voters — and promised there'd be more to come. Today, get to know 13 more of the filmmakers, producers, and creatives invited to join AMPAS this year.
This group continues to be emblematic of the Academy's commitment to encompass a greater range of voices and backgrounds. And while the artists here all share a sense of gratitude to be included as part of the institution, their diversity is reflected in their unique, globe-spanning roads to this milestone.
Pola Rapoport (Addicted to Life), Michael Collins (Delikado) and Mila Aung-Thwin (Let There Be Light) look back on childhoods steeped in the magic of movies.
California-based Christine Turner (The Barber of Little Rock) and Caryn Capotosto (Won't You Be My Neighbor) hope for future collaborations with fellow AMPAS members.
Chicagoan Mark Mitten (Abacus: Small Enough to Jail) notes the timeliness of becoming an AMPAS voter today, while Rebecca Lichtenfeld (The Eternal Memory), Keith Wilson (I Didn't See You There), and South Africa's Vincent Moloi (Invincible) look forward to being part of the organization's continued evolution.
New Yorkers Anne Alvergue (The Martha Mitchell Effect) and Ellen Goosenberg Kent (Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1) express appreciation for greater female representation within the Academy.
Malian Ousmanne Samassékou (The Last Shelter) and Niger's Aïcha Macky (Zinder) describe recognition by AMPAS as a moment of validation for fellow filmmakers in Africa.
